As a Process Engineer 4 at DZMC, you will serve as a key technical force behind complex engineering projects across the chemical process industry. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise to challenging, high-impact work supporting clients and facilities in the munitions, petrochemical, and chemical intermediates sectors.

You will lead the development of critical early-phase engineering deliverables, including code reviews, comprehensive system evaluations, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, engineering calculations, piping and instrumentation diagrams, scopes of work, and equipment data sheets. You will also provide essential support throughout detailed design, helping transform sound engineering concepts into safe, efficient, and constructible solutions.

As an integral member of the DZMC Engineering team, you will contribute across multiple projects while partnering closely with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, controls, and project management professionals. Your ability to connect conceptual design with practical execution will help ensure technical excellence, regulatory compliance, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery.

If you are ready to take on meaningful engineering challenges, influence innovative solutions, and make a visible impact across critical industrial projects, DZMC offers an environment where your technical leadership, creativity, and commitment to quality can truly shape the future of process engineering.

As the Process Engineer 4, here is the work you'll do:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers and designers on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring high-quality discipline engineering outputs with minimal supervision.
  • Develop innovative conceptual designs and conduct thorough evaluations of alternative solutions based on criteria such as constructability, operational performance, energy efficiency, reliability, maintainability, initial and life-cycle costs, as well as environmental considerations.
  • Manage changes to process scope diligently to keep project deliverables within approved budgets and predefined schedules.
  • Coordinate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including other engineering disciplines, construction crews, site personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and clients, fostering clear communication and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Plan and review detailed work plans, assess staffing needs, and schedule resources efficiently for your assigned teams and projects.
  • Conduct meticulous reviews and provide approvals for engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications to ensure strict compliance with established company procedures, design standards, project requirements, and cost estimates.
  • Through these responsibilities, you will ensure the integrity, safety, and practicality of engineering solutions, while driving continuous improvements and embracing industry best practices.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Strong foundation in Hydraulic Modeling and Pump Sizing, with either hands-on experience or a willingness and aptitude to learn advanced tools such as AFT Fathom; similarly, knowledge or capability to learn Compressible Gas System Modeling through software like AFT Arrow.
  • Expertise in Heat Transfer principles, including the design and specification of heat exchangers and other process equipment, ensuring optimal thermal performance and energy efficiency.
  • Proven experience in developing comprehensive design bases that inform Capital Cost Estimates, enabling accurate project budgeting and financial planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, allowing effective interaction with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients while producing clear and professional technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with adaptability to quickly master additional software platforms required for design, analysis, and project management tasks.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering is required, ensuring a strong foundational knowledge of chemical processes and engineering principles.
  • An advanced degree in a related field is preferred, reflecting a commitment to continued learning and specialized expertise.
  • A minimum of 12 years of professional experience, demonstrating a deep technical background and progressive responsibility in engineering roles.
  • At least 6 years of experience within the EPCm industry or direct exposure to operating companies in the chemical process sector, including but not limited to munitions, chemical manufacturing, petrochemical plants, chemical intermediates, or fiber industries. This industry-specific experience is critical for success in this position.
