Job Description: 

Job Summary

This position is responsible for designing, evaluating, implementing, administering the company employee benefits programs, policies, processes and services for all employees. This position will also develop and implement a communications strategy, oversee benefit systems, guidance for paid time off programs and compliance, manage the benefits team, lead benefits analytics/utilization and ROI, and provide leadership and project management for companywide benefits projects/initiatives including open enrollment, union negotiations, M&A work, and ACA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide benefits expertise to design, evaluate, and implement benefit plans and vendors (health & welfare, retirement, wellness) for staff, union, and contractor populations, leading large initiatives such as open enrollment, compliance, M&A, and union negotiations. Drive benefits analytics, utilization, chronic condition management, and vendor ROI, and make strategic recommendations for new benefits and vendors to address high-cost conditions and improve employee engagement.
  • Lead the benefits team by overseeing day-to-day administration, setting priorities and performance expectations, developing team capabilities, reviewing work product, and ensuring deadlines and employee issues are addressed timely. Partner with HR Operations leadership to ensure effective benefits processes and clear employee communication.
  • Provide leadership for wellness initiatives, integrating wellness into the overall benefits and communications strategy. Oversee benefits communications to support employee engagement and the EVP, and partner with HR Operations to manage benefits processes for enrollment, termination, communications, and compliance.
  • Provide guidance expertise and competitive assessment for our paid leave programs and policies.
  • Oversee and manage benefits administration vendors, ensuring compliance and effective execution, while partnering with brokers to develop vendor relationships and monitor performance, reporting, and ROI.
  • Oversee compliance with federal and state regulations governing benefits plans, including but not limited to DOL, ERISA, IRC, HIPAA, ACA, and required state filing.

KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of direct reports, set performance expectations and ensure high quality deliverables. Ability to build internal and external (vendor) collaborative work relationships and work as part of a team.
  • Significant expertise and knowledge in health and welfare plan and retirement plan design and adminstration. Superior problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Skilled in developing and delivering presentations to varying audiences including employee, peers and various levels of management.
  • Ability to continually review and improve processes.
  • Excellent ability to apply logical reasoning to data analysis and think through details.
  • Ability to be self-directed and to handle large, concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability in MSOffice products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HRIS (SAP preferred).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or Sciences (BA/BS) in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in benefits administration, including 5 years in benefits management, is required.
  • Certification as a Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) is preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) through IFEBP is also preferred.

  • Ability to regularly perform all job functions at the Company’s office or work site.
  • Travel Requirements Up to 5% travel. 

Compensation and Benefits

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $146,480 to $219,720. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final offer amounts may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
