Job Description: 

We’re looking for an Environmental Intern to join our American Ordnance team located in Middletown, IA. This role provides hands-on experience in environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory reporting within a manufacturing environment. The intern will assist with ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including those established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), while supporting continuous improvement in environmental performance.

 

As the Environmental Intern, here’s the work you’ll do:

  • Assist with environmental compliance audits and facility inspections.
  • Support air, water, and waste regulatory reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Help maintain permits and compliance documentation (air permits, stormwater permits, waste manifests, etc.).
  • Assist with hazardous waste management activities.
  • Track and analyze environmental performance data (energy use, water consumption, waste generation).

 

This role is for you if you have these skills:

And if you have these qualifications: 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening process.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $22.00 - $ 24.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
