As a Systems Engineer at SOC LLC's Government Services division, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the robust performance, security, and resilience of critical IT infrastructures. You will be entrusted with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of extensive network systems, servers, data storage, and advanced applications that support both corporate operations and specialized government contracts. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining compliance with industry-standard security protocols including the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and Department of Defense regulations.

This position demands a proactive, detail-oriented professional capable of independently managing complex systems, while also collaborating with diverse teams to uphold and enhance infrastructure integrity. You will be instrumental in optimizing the availability and recoverability of IT assets to support mission-critical functions, ensuring continuity and excellence in service delivery.

As the Systems Engineer, here's the work you'll do:

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure network architectures encompassing switches, servers, and enterprise-grade storage systems specifically tailored for governmental operational needs.
• Manage and continuously improve the performance and security of Windows Server environments, virtualization platforms such as VMware, and complex enterprise storage arrays to support demanding workloads.
• Perform systematic system evaluations, proactively identifying potential bottlenecks and vulnerabilities to reduce downtime and enhance security posture across all managed infrastructure components.
• Plan and execute system upgrades and technology rollouts with detailed change management protocols, frequently scheduling tasks during off-hours to minimize business disruption.
• Create, update, and enforce comprehensive documentation including standard operating procedures, configuration standards, and security policies that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Provide expert mentorship and structured training programs for junior infrastructure engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and adherence to technical standards.
• Ensure all sensitive and classified information is managed in strict compliance with data protection policies and government security mandates.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with security teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to align IT infrastructure capabilities with organizational objectives and contract deliverables.
• Contribute to capacity planning and resource allocation to anticipate and meet evolving technological and operational demands.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

• Proven experience of 3 to 5+ years configuring, deploying, and supporting Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, and enterprise networking and storage solutions within secure and regulated environments.
• Deep expertise in VMware virtualization technologies including cluster configuration, high availability, disaster recovery solutions, and vCenter management.
• Excellent understanding of IT security frameworks, data privacy laws, and compliance standards such as those outlined by the National Industrial Security Program (NISP).
• Hands-on experience supporting SQL Server databases and experience integrating Microsoft and third-party enterprise systems for infrastructure monitoring and performance optimization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to diverse audiences, including technical teams and executive leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks in a dynamic environment while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
• Capacity to independently manage projects while embracing collaborative teamwork to achieve shared goals.

And if you have these qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure tailored for secure government services or comparable sectors.
• Preferred professional certifications include CompTIA Security+ and Network+ which affirm foundational knowledge in IT security and networking.
• Additional certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are highly regarded to demonstrate specialized expertise.
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain necessary government security clearances indicative of trustworthiness and compliance with confidentiality obligations.
• Flexibility to travel as required to various client sites or project locations to deliver technical support, installations, or training.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $87,920 - $131,880. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
