We're looking for a part-time Compensation Intern to join our Day & Zimmermann Human Resources team located in King of Prussia, PA. The ideal candidate is seeking a long-term internship opportunity (1 year or more) with the potential to transition into a full-time role upon graduation.

Hours expected - 20 hours per week.

 

The Compensation Intern contributes to the success of the D&Z Corporate Compensation program through analytical and administrative support of key compensation processes. This role serves as an essential resource for compensation reporting, data analytics, and employee pay data management. Working closely with Compensation, HR, and business leaders, the intern will gain exposure to compensation strategy, salary administration, workforce analytics, and enterprise HR systems.

This position is best suited for a highly analytical student who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and leveraging technology to drive business decisions. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience using advanced Excel functions and reporting tools to analyze, validate, and present data.

 

Here's the work you'll do:

  • Develop, maintain, and audit reports within SuccessFactors HRIS to support compensation analysis, compliance, and decision-making.
  • Utilize advanced Excel functions and reporting techniques to analyze, reconcile, and validate large datasets from multiple sources.
  • Support compensation programs through market pricing analysis, salary structure administration, compensation audits, and employee pay data management.
  • Assist with the annual compensation planning process, including merit increase and bonus administration, reporting, and data validation.
  • Participate in data governance and clean-up initiatives to improve the accuracy and integrity of job, position, and employee data.
  • Create recurring and ad hoc reports that provide meaningful insights to HR, Compensation, Finance, and business stakeholders.
  • Support special projects focused on process improvement, automation, reporting enhancements, and operational effectiveness.
  • Handle sensitive employee and compensation information with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.

 

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required, including:
    • XLOOKUP and VLOOKUP
    • Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts
    • INDEX/MATCH functions
    • Conditional Formatting
    • Data Validation
    • Complex formulas and data reconciliation
  • Ability to analyze large datasets while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interest in Compensation, Total Rewards or HR Analytics.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling employee and compensation-related information.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Human Resources, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Previous internship, co-op, or relevant work experience in Human Resources, or a related analytical function strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with advanced Excel functions through academic projects, internships, research, or professional experience.
  • Experience creating reports, analyzing data, and communicating findings to support business decisions.
  • Experience with HRIS, or reporting systems preferred; SuccessFactors experience is a plus.
  • Ability to commit to a part-time internship for a minimum of one year.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the target starting pay for this role is $20 per hour. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
