Position Description
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the QC Specialist – Electrical position is responsible for performing inspections and surveillances, supporting audits and site processes and activities to ensure that appropriate controls have been defined and implemented to meet customer, regulatory and applicable specified quality level requirements.
Incumbents should possess knowledge of quality-related concepts, practices and construction/fabrication related applications and rely on experience and independent judgment to accomplish goals. With excellent interpersonal skills, the QC Specialist acts as a liaison with applicable jurisdictional authorities as required.
Responsibilities
• Completes moderate to complex quality inspections for incoming/receiving, in process, and final approval materials and products. Provides support through the inspection process for QC Incoming Inspector as required.
• Administers moderate to complex aspects of the quality assurance program to ensure products and services are in compliance with the appropriate regulations, standards and codes and customer requirements.
• Validates material markings and equipment / components / against Comprehensive Work Package documentation, purchasing documentation and to the applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements
• Authenticates supplier documentation against purchasing documentation and applicable codes, standards and regulations
• Verifies and approves proper installation of electrical and mechanical items, components and equipment in nuclear power plants against Comprehensive Work Package documentation and applicable codes, standards and regulations
• Facilitates internal reviews and comments on Inspection and Test Plan’s (ITP’s) and when applicable may write ITPs. Records inspection results within Inspection and Test Plans and various Inspection and Test Reports.
Job Qualifications
• Discipline related certificate (Red Seal or other); may include post-secondary education in electrical
• Electrical experience is an asset
• 3-5+ years of related experience (nuclear, or closely-related industry)
• Knowledge of CSA N286, ISO 9001, CSA N299/Z299, N285, B51, B52, Ontario Electric Code.
• Knowledge of ASME Series of Codes, CSA Series of Codes is an asset.
• Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact positively with all levels inside and outside the organization and in a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; including document preparation and presentation
• Knowledge of nuclear power plant systems, components and interrelated activities
