Position Description

 

Position Summary

Under general supervision, this position performs project control activities that manages, controls, and reports on costs. The Project Controls Analyst (PCA) collects and reports on performance data, identifies and tracks all changes to the project scope and provides cost analysis. Demonstrating strong financial acumen and analytical skills, the successful incumbent supports the financial management of the project including budget creation, WBS development, invoicing and tracking of milestones.

 

 

Responsibilities

•    Updates the project manager of project financial status, schedule status, identifies potential problems and recommends a resolution; escalating prolonged issues to appropriate senior managers   
•    Develops knowledge of financial management of the project, that includes assisting with the formation of work breakdown structures; budgets; tracking invoice milestone; review invoice charges and backup; and implementation and observance of forecast and project cash flow.   
•    Provides financial management of the project, that includes assisting with the creation of work breakdown structures including budgets, tracking of invoicing milestones, reviewing invoice charges and backup, forecasting and monitors project cash flow
•    Provides subcontractor financial oversight by reviewing subcontractor's invoices versus their Terms & Conditions and Purchase Orders
•    Establishes methods/procedures for the project control activates of cost analysis, scope control, trending and reporting
•    Oversees the development of earned value analysis, project status reports and project financial reports

 

Job Qualifications

•    Technical Diploma or Degree – Business or Finance preferred
•    4-6+ years of related work experience
•    Experience with SAP an asset
•    Excellent PC-based application skills such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point)
•    Effective written and verbal skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed financial data
•    Strong analytical business and/or technical expertise
•    Excellent customer service
•    Ability to change priorities quickly, confront issues directly and work well as part of a team
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Ability to plan, organize, budget, and monitor progress
