Position Description
The Finance & Accounting Analyst is responsible for financial analysis and transactional accounting functions of the Canadian business. This role requires a hands-on analyst with strong attention to detail, critical thinking ability, and problem-solving skills. This role is an individual contributor responsible for financial planning & analysis, period and year-end closing and reporting processes and also performs portions of transactional accounting functions.
Applicants must be able to reliably commute to Kincardine, ON.
Responsibilities
• Manage and ensure the accurate and timely period and year end closing and reporting processes including but not limited to project analysis, revenue recognition, G&A analysis, resource utilization reporting, and KPI reporting.
• Actively participate and manage the financial planning and analysis process (Budgets, Forecasts, ad-hoc, etc.). Periodic reporting and analysis evaluating results compared to budgets, forecasts, and other key metrics as deemed applicable.
• Manage and ensure the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable including completion of service entries, reconciling of vendor statement of accounts, and working with the procurement department to identify and correct variances between invoices and purchase orders.
• Serve as subject matter expert (SME) and oversee coordination of payment for all payroll related liabilities and remittances, this includes all Union Fringes and government remittances (WSIB/EHT/EI/CPP).
• Serve as subject matter expert (SME) and provide support to Billing & Payroll Coordinator in the processing of Canadian payroll and bill rate issues. This includes running payroll in the coordinator's absence and providing oversight on rate table development.
• Identify and recommend enhancements, efficiencies, or changes to information management systems and reporting to support financial and operational processes. Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications
• BA / BS in accounting, finance or business administration preferred.
• 2 - 4+ years experience in related field; financial, accounting, or other related assignments required.
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills coupled with the ability to drive accountability.
• Knowledge of general accounting functions and GAAP.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. SAP knowledge preferred.
• Ability to set department goals/priorities and work with staffs to ensure objectives are achieved; regularly reviewing and reporting goals and objectives progress.
• Ability to communicate with various internal groups to resolve issues and concerns on an exception basis; facilitating resolution of escalated problems or issues and elevating issues that impact the business unit to the Business Unit Controller, as needed.
