As the Sr. Manager, Engineering here's the work you'll do:

 

Position Summary

Manage and supervise all Engineering activities for the Texas, Kansas and Empire sites, both in support of the manufacturing process and in all other areas including facilities, projects and proposals with an emphasis on betterment in all areas. Provide program management and plant startup assistance as needed to ensure successful project execution and hand-off. Responsible for the supervision, formulation, administration and coordination of engineering projects, budgets, policies, processes, methods and procedures designed to improve operating performance, reduce waste and delays and otherwise promote cost reductions on a company-wide basis. Must be familiar with ISO/MIL-STD’s/Specifications as well as the DoD Proposal Process in the ammunition industry. Responsible for establishing staffing requirements to ensure operational requirements are met.

 

  • Support manufacturing process through Project Management, DoD Proposal Process, establishing, and maintaining budgets and schedules for engineering/maintenance. Enforce a mentality in the engineering/maintenance departments of "On-Time, Under Budget."  
  • Supports the development of the proposal/project technical approach, risk assessment/register as well as assumptions and clarifications. Reviews work objectives and progress of projects. Estimates man-hours and skill requirements to accomplish objectives while preparing and/or assisting other departments with Scopes of Work, to include establishing engineering staffing requirements and maintaining manpower forecasts to support all aspects of operations.
  • Planning, defining, organizing, monitoring, measuring and controlling past, present/future engineering activities; coordinates projects with other departments and/or organizational units including contractors, arranging/coordinating the acquisition of equipment, materials, supplies, tools, etc. to maintain a sufficient supply of each for special and/or emergency conditions.
  • May create and manage budgets for departments, projects and actively participate in the bid and proposal process, providing cost estimates and risk analysis. Prepares reports on cost estimates, payback, cost impacts, cost analysis, etc. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Experience in effective project management, execution and project procedures, including cost estimation and budgeting. Ability to supervise and lead Engineering resources and the completion of projects. Knowledge of technical engineering requirements of clients, regulations and governmental guidelines.
  • Lean Manufacturing Methods and Techniques (Hands-on); Facilities Planning, Exhibits both technical breadth and depth of subject engineering curriculum. Demonstrates a broad technical knowledge of various engineering disciplines and is able to effectively communicate complex technical requirements and concepts to engineers and non-engineers.
  • Technical / Proposal Writing/Computer skills (including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite). Effective Time Management / Project Management (microsoft project).

And if you have these qualifications:

Education: Bachelors of Science Degree (Ind Tech, Ind Eng, Mech, Electric, Manufacturing, etc.). 
Length of Experience: 10+ years in manufacturing (government contracting and munitions experience a plus); minimum of 5 years supervisory experience preferred in Project or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
Certifications: Six Sigma, PMP preferred.
Licenses/ Registrations: None.
Other: Plus: DOE, Project Management, ISO, SAP, Risk Management, Experience managing and directing personnel with preventative maintenance (PM) software.
Preferred: Hands on trades experience; Experience with preventative maintenance (PM) software and programs.  Prefer experience in a unionized setting.

 

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $104,080- $156,120 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
