Sr. Manager, Engineering

As the Sr. Manager, Engineering, here's the work you'll do:

Position Summary

Responsible for the supervision, formulation, administration and coordination of engineering projects, budgets, policies, processes, methods and procedures designed to improve operating performance, reduce waste and delays and otherwise promote cost reductions on a company-wide basis. Must be familiar with ISO MIL STD’s, Specifications as well as the DoD Proposal Process in the ammunition industry. Manages personnel engaged fabrication, installation, rearrangement and maintenance of Plant facilities including building, grounds, roads, utilities and equipment. Responsible for establishing staffing requirements to ensure operational requirements are met.

• Support manufacturing process through Project Management, DoD Proposal Process, establishing, and maintaining budgets and schedules for engineering/maintenance. Enforce a mentality in the engineering/maintenance departments of On Time, Under Budget.
• Manage and supervise engineering and maintenance personnel including scheduling work assignments, evaluate performance, promotion, discharge, employee orientation, investigate grievances, incidents etc. including written reports.
• Planning, defining, organizing, monitoring, measuring and controlling past, present/future engineering activities; coordinates maintenance projects with other departments and/or organizational units including contractors, arranging/coordinating the acquisition of equipment, materials, supplies, tools, etc. to maintain a sufficient supply of each for special and/or emergency conditions.
• Manages maintenance of plant building, utilities, grounds, and support equipment to assure optimal conditions for plant objectives across sites. Reviews work objectives and estimates man hour and skill requirements to accomplish objectives while preparing and/or assisting other departments in Scopes of Work for the maintenance department including establishing staffing requirements and maintains manpower forecasts for all aspects of maintenance and operations in all areas of the plant.
• Prepares reports on cost estimates, payback, cost impacts, cost analysis, etc.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics; Extensive knowledge of and the ability to perform Maintenance Craft related skills (including lifting devices); Ability to operate, maintain, construct and make repairs to facilities, utilities, machinery and equipment.
• Lean Manufacturing Methods and Techniques (Hands-on); Facilities Planning.
• Cost Estimating / Budgeting/Work order control.
• Technical / Proposal Writing/Computer skills (including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite).
• Time Management / Project Management (microsoft project).

And if you have these qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science Degree (Ind Tech, Ind Eng, Mech, Electric, Manufacturing, etc.), Masters Degree (Prod. Mgt, Business Mgt., MBA, Tech. Mgt, etc.) with Maintenance apprenticeship or technical school certification preferred (Maintenance).
• 15+ years in manufacturing (government contracting and munitions experience a plus); 10-15 years supervisory experience in Manufacturing Engineering related activities required.
• Six Sigma, PMP preferred.
• Plus: DOE, Project Management, ISO, SAP, Risk Management, Experience managing and directing personnel with preventative maintenance (PM) software
• Preferred: Hands on trades experience; Experience with preventative maintenance (PM) software and programs. Prefer experience in a unionized setting.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $114,560- $171,840. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
