Position Summary

We’re looking for a full-time Drafting & Design Support Technician to join our collaborative and fast-paced team at Day & Zimmermann. In this role, you’ll support engineering, proposal, and development efforts by producing technical drawings, creating 3D models, preparing process flows, and assembling bill of materials (BOMs). You’ll also conduct technical data reviews, assist in cost estimating, and manage record drawings, engineering orders, and the electronic drawing database.

 

This position requires a balance of technical precision and strong communication, as you'll collaborate closely with engineers, proposal teams, and manufacturing to ensure high-quality, on-time deliverables. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong drafting background to contribute meaningfully across multiple phases of projects in a hands-on environment.

As the Drafting and Design Support Technician, here’s the work you’ll do

· Create and revise technical drawings, 3D models, and BOMs to support engineering, manufacturing, and development teams
· Assist in the creation of process flows and engineering estimates for bids and proposals
· Conduct technical data reviews and support design efforts across teams
· Manage and maintain the electronic drawing database and engineering orders
· Maintain accurate record drawings and ensure updates are properly documented
· Support coordination between disciplines to ensure alignment and quality control across deliverables

This role is for you if you have these skills

· Proficient in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor
· Strong understanding of technical data packages and drawing interpretation
· Knowledge of cost estimating, technical writing, and munitions manufacturing processes
· Capable of working independently and collaboratively under tight timelines
· Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple assignments

And if you have these qualifications:

· Associate’s degree or completion of a two-year technical school program (required)
· 5+ years of relevant drafting/design experience (preferred)
· Certified in AutoCAD (required)
· Background in design, controls, or munitions manufacturing strongly preferred

 

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $67,040- $100,560. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
