Summary:
Lead the strategy that keeps mission-critical production moving. The Director, Materials leads materials management across Day & Zimmermann munitions plants, overseeing property management, material records, planning and scheduling, inventory and MRP, traffic, stores, and transportation. This leader is responsible for ensuring material accuracy, system reliability, financial discipline, and continuous process improvement while developing high-performing teams. By driving operational excellence across the materials organization, the Director ensures material availability and delivery execution support production schedules, customer delivery requirements, and contractual requirements.
This role will be onsite in Texarkana, TX, also overseeing Kansas and South Dakota operations
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for materials management, inventory control, production planning support, warehousing, receiving, shipping, and material flow across D&Z Plants. Collaborate with Supply Chain, Programs, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and other cross-functional partners to ensure materials, systems, and records support production schedules, customer need dates, and internal and external customer expectations.
- Ensure materials processes comply with company policies, contractual requirements, government regulations, security protocols, hazardous material controls, and munitions handling standards. Maintain accurate system data, transaction records, and inventory balances to support compliance, production execution, material accountability, and operational decision-making. Identify supply risks, material shortages, and process gaps; develop mitigation plans to minimize production interruptions and customer impact.
- Oversee budgeting, cost control, and resource planning for materials operations to support financial plan performance, profitability, and operational discipline. Monitor material-related costs, staffing needs, inventory impacts, and process performance to identify risks, control expenses, and drive improvement. Support audits, compliance reviews, customer visits, and internal assessments related to materials management, inventory control, and operational readiness.
- Lead financial oversight, resource planning, standardization, and continuous improvement for materials operations across D&Z Plants. Monitor costs, staffing, inventory impacts, process performance, and compliance readiness to control expenses, reduce waste and cycle time, improve material readiness, and support profitability, customer satisfaction, and plant performance.
- Lead, develop, and evaluate employees responsible for assigned material functions. Establish goals, provide direction and feedback, support talent retention and development, and hold team members accountable for performance and business results.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) | Engineering, Business, Operations/Materials Management, Supply Chain, or related field; equivalent related experience may be considered. Required
- 10+ years Progressive experience in materials management, material accountability, inventory control, property control, MRP, logistics, transportation, or related operations, including budgeting, people leadership, and process improvement/change leadership responsibilities. Required
- SAP Certification. Preferred

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $131,600 - $197,400. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
