This position is ideal for seasoned professionals dedicated to advancing engineering design excellence while contributing to a dynamic organizational culture committed to safety, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
As a Piping Designer 4, here is the work you'll do:
- Lead and manage the piping design and drafting activities, ensuring CAD output meets project specifications, technical accuracy, and is delivered on schedule.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and clients to confirm design requirements, address engineering challenges, and implement effective piping system solutions.
- Apply and enforce compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, company procedures, and safety regulations for all piping design efforts.
- Develop, monitor, and adjust project-specific schedules to ensure timely completion of deliverables across multiple smaller projects or segments within larger projects.
- Prepare and critically review detailed process piping layouts, isometric drawings, and supporting documentation to verify constructability, accuracy, and design integrity.
- Utilize advanced CAD software including both 2D drafting and 3D modeling tools to generate adaptable and precise piping designs suitable for fabrication and installation.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate design parameters, support decision-making, and optimize system performance.
- Maintain comprehensive records of design revisions, technical correspondence, and project documentation to ensure traceability and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
- Take an active role in project review sessions and technical workshops, offering expert guidance, identifying areas for improvement, and participating in problem-solving discussions.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
- Deep expertise in piping design fundamentals combined with a thorough understanding of engineering principles, process requirements, and pertinent codes that drive high-quality deliverables.
- Proficient use of state-of-the-art CAD software for both 2D drafting and 3D modeling, enabling the creation of detailed and accurate piping systems suitable for a range of industrial applications.
- Strong knowledge of applicable standards and regulations such as ASME, ANSI, and API ensuring all designs are compliant and meet client and industry requirements.
- Experience in project management elements including estimating, budgeting, planning, and scheduling to efficiently allocate resources and support project delivery timelines.
- Leadership capabilities to mentor and guide CAD team members, coordinate multidisciplinary efforts, and lead technical initiatives within assigned projects.
- Excellent analytical skills to perform piping calculations, deduce solutions to complex design problems, and optimize overall system reliability and safety.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for seamless collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders, fostering a cohesive work environment.
- Adaptability and commitment to professional growth by embracing evolving design technologies, industry trends, and continuous improvement methodologies.
And if you have these qualifications:
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED, complemented by a technical background relevant to mechanical and piping design disciplines.
- Associate’s Degree (AA) in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Drafting, or a closely related technical field
- Extensive hands-on experience ranging from 15 to 20 years or more in piping design and drafting roles, demonstrating expert proficiency and comprehensive project exposure.
- Proven mastery of modern 2D and 3D CAD software essential for producing detailed piping layouts and fabrication drawings aligned with current industry standards.
- A strong safety orientation and strict adherence to quality control processes, regulations, and engineering protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
