Position Description

We’re looking for a full-time, staff Completions and Turnover Engineer to join our Day & Zimmermann team.

 

This position is responsible for leading and managing the project turnover process. This position will maintain completions and turnover for direct hire work and site contractors. This position works closely with the Commissioning Manager and will additionally interface daily with design and construction professionals as well as clients, trade contractors, operations and maintenance staff.

As the Completions and Turnover Engineer, here’s the work you’ll do:

• Attend daily construction and turnover meetings to ensure all deliverables are properly assigned to the applicable turnaround work packages. Monitor and expedite outstanding deliverables, review completed ones for compliance, and facilitate final walkdowns, including scheduling and documenting punch items. Expedite final handover documentation and issue daily reports

• Itemize the entire turnover work scope through system & subsystem packages. Work closely with document management to compile, organize, and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including construction drawings, specifications, test reports, certifications, and as-built records. Ensure all documentation meets contractual and regulatory requirements

• Collaborate with commissioning teams to validate the performance of HVAC, piping, electrical, fire protection and mechanical systems

• Create and manage punch lists to track items needing completion or correction before final handover, ensuring timely resolution. Act as a liaison between the construction team, contractors, and commissioning to facilitate clear communication and address issues. Schedule and lead turnover meetings to keep stakeholders informed of project progress

• Ensure all turnover packages contain the necessary documentation and oversee the final project closeout, meeting all contractual obligations and client expectations. Prepare comprehensive handover packages with operation manuals, warranties, and training materials for the OEM operations team. Obtain formal client acceptance and sign-off for project completion

This role is for you if you have these skills:

• Proven past performance and knowledge turnover and commissioning of facility equipment including utility and life safety systems serving mission critical facilities

• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes client needs assessment, and evaluation of client satisfaction. Leadership skills to motivate or influence others

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including managing schedules, budgets (including change management) in priority fashion

• Generalized knowledge of laws, codes, government regulations that affect the business and the market segment. Possess project-specific knowledge of the program’s commissioning requirements as defined in project specifications and commissioning plan

• Ability to travel

And if you have these qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related fields

• 5+ years experience as a Commissioning Engineer

• Certified Commissioning Provider (CCP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Commissioning Authority, or other nationally-recognized commissioning certification preferred

• For Munitions projects, requires experience in plant operations

 

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $104,480 - $156,720 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
