Job Description

As the Safety Engineer, here’s the work you’ll do:
 

  • Facilitates all phases of the Health and Safety Program to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel.
  • Prepares and implements, under the direction of the Facility Operations Director, comprehensive health and safety procedures in accordance with federal and Governmental regulations with particular emphasis on explosive safety, health physics, industrial hygiene, and radiation protection.
  • Prepares and implements, under the direction of the Facility Operations Director, comprehensive health and safety procedures in accordance with federal and Governmental regulations with particular emphasis on explosive safety, health physics, industrial hygiene, and radiation protection.
  • Reviews and analyzes new processes that require comments from the Safety Department. Also reviews changes in Standard Operating Procedures, Engineering Orders, Drawings, Safety Proposals, and Suggestions along with any Equipment, New Construction, and Equipment Modifications.
  • Conducts accident investigations or industrial and explosive incidents with main objective being to determine the root causes(s). Determines corrective actions that will reduce or eliminate reoccurrences of safety incident.
  • Maintains updated regulations and standards related to safety and safe work practices (e.g. ANSI standards). Collects, analyzes and disseminates data concerning the accident experience of the installation.


This role is for you if you have these skills:
 

  • Thorough knowledge of Safety Regulations including OSHA.
  • Thorough knowledge of Industrial Occupational Safety.
  • Good knowledge of physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering design and mechanics, and industrial processes.
  • Strong communication skills - oral and written.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  •  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple duties simultaneously.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge in Word, Access, Excel, CINCOM, Outlook, and other software programs is needed.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in Occupational/Industrial safety and health.
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • 1-2 years’ experience with military ordnance preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Safety Regulations including OSHA.
  • Thorough knowledge of Industrial Occupational Safety.
  • Good knowledge of physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering design and mechanics, and industrial processes.
  • Strong communication skills - oral and written.
  • Strong computer skills


In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $59,0400-$88,560. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
