We’re looking for a full-time, staff Director- Environmental, Health, & Safety.
This position will provide full-time environmental, health, and safety direction and leadership to support all operations of the American Ordnance plant. Provides guidance to plant safety and environmental departments in developing, implementing, and assuring overall compliance for policies and regulations. Serves as liaison with senior management for these departments.
As the Director- Environmental, Health, & Safety, here’s the work you’ll do:
- Responsible for planning, formulating, implementing and executing occupational and explosives safety criteria and standards for the facility to include Safety Engineering, Safety and Health Programs, Safety Review Submissions, Industrial Hygiene, Radiation Protection.
- Periodically audit EHS programs and policies to ensure continued effectiveness and develop a system for tracking the effectiveness. Review data gathered during investigations of incidents, near misses, and property damage incidents to determine the root cause. Work with stakeholders to ensure corrective actions are applicable to eliminate the incident’s root cause.
- Serve as an agent of the company and representative/liaison to a variety of external entities including EHS federal, state, and local agencies, customers, suppliers, industry groups, military, law enforcement, and government entities.
- Conduct special studies and investigation of hazardous situations or operational problems to determine origin, causes, and contributing elements.
- Provides OSHA safety and HAZMAT program control and oversight. Ensures availability of required safety information and materials such as Material Safety Data Sheet, hazard labeling of containers, labeling of industrial support equipment, etc
This role is for you if you have these skills:
- Knowledge of explosive safety, health and safety plans, proper munitions storage procedures, vehicle safety, and material safety hazards
- Previous experience in explosive safety, radiation safety, laser safety, Agile, Oracle, DOD, and NFPA is a plus
- Project Management
- People Management
And if you have these qualifications:
- B.S. Environmental Health & Safety, B.S. Safety Engineering or equivalent, or M.S. Environmental Health & Safety, M.S. Safety Engineering or equivalent
- 15 years of relevant experience with Bachelors degree or 10 years relevant experience with a Masters Degree
- CSP and CHMM preferred
- May require US government secret clearance
- Great attitude and team player.
- Successful completion of background screening process. (If applicable)
In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $122,800.00 - $ 184,200.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
