As the Controls Technician 1 here's the work you'll do:

  • Tests, troubleshoot, repair and modify controls systems such as PLCs or other automated machinery. Apply principles and theories of electronic and industrial technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate breakdowns as well as initiate modifications to equipment. Troubleshooting may include building test samples, error replication, and data collection/analysis. Works in close support with Engineers, quality or production personnel.
  • Find and document solutions to better utilize existing equipment and tools to improve processes. Reduce downtime by identifying and resolving issues in the production process and equipment. Recommends design changes.
  • Aids the work of maintenance personnel.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Knowledge in PLC programming and Microsoft Office Software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and electrical prints. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with machinery and equipment. Ability and desire to troubleshoot and resolve issues with various complex machine types and systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot multiple systems and platforms in automated processes.

And these qualifications:

  • Associate degree from two-year college or technical school in Industrial Technology or related field
  • 1-year technical experience. This can include internships.
  • Ability to understand NEC, NFPA, NESC
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of background screening process.


In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $44,800 - $67,200. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
