Your Role as the Fire Chief:

Oversees fire operations, inspections, firefighter training, ambulance/rescue service and emergency responses to hazardous material releases. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a fire department, including fire prevention and suppression, emergency medical services, disaster planning, and hazardous material mitigation.

Assumes personal command of all firefighting activities during emergencies. During a conflagration or other similar emergency, will have the power to temporarily suspend the operation. Participates in the investigation of all plant fires to determine root cause, and other pertinent facts. Prepares necessary reports concerning fire of consequence or suspicious origin and works with other departments to make recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Supervises preparation of required reports, analyses, budgets and estimates; ensures that appropriate supporting records are maintained.

Coordinates and assures cooperation and compliance of activities with other departments of the plant, government staff, and outside agencies. Activities include, but not limited to, reviewing scope of work, the layout of fire supression systems in new builds or modifications, anti-terriorisim force protection, and local emergency planning commission.

Manages supervisory staff performance and development. Makes final approvals of hiring and disciplinary actions for the department.
What You Bring to the Team:

Language Skills and Strategic Thinking - Ability to read an interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Demonstrate skills to write routine reports and correspondence and have the ability to communicate with internal and external customers professionally and effectively.

Math Skills - Demonstrate and maintain ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Judgement - Demonstrate ability to handle multiple duties simultaneously as in Incident Command (IC) or Unified Command (UC) based on the National Incident Mangement System (NIMS).

Communication and Organizational Skills - Demonstrate knowledge and competency in Word, Outlook, Fire House, and other applicable software programs.

Functional Tactics and Operational Support - Interpret Army Regulations (ARs), National Fire Protection Associations (NFPA), Fire Codes, and Unified Fire Criteria (UFC).
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred
- Valid Driver’s License is required with Minimum of a Valid Class D Chauffeur driver's license
- Candidates must hold certifications from one of the following: the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), the National Professional Qualifications Board (NPQB), or the Department of Defense (DOD) in the following classifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Driver Operator-Pumper, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer I, and Fire Officer II. A minimum certification of EMT-B is required. If not already certified as a Hazmat Technician, candidates must obtain certification within one year through our in-house program. Additional required qualifications include Hazardous Materials Incident Commander and completion of NIMS courses 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800.
- Ability to pass a physical exam, drug screening, and background check.
- Ability to achieve required secret clearance as deemed necessary by the installation.
Salary:
In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $76,640 - $114,960.
This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
