Are you handy with wood, skilled with tools, and ready to make things happen? In this role, you’ll bring blueprints to life constructing, installing, and repairing everything from sturdy frameworks to sleek fixtures using wood, plywood, and wallboard all while keeping things up to code. You’ll also take the wheel when it comes to prepping and securing cargo for commercial and rail transport by crafting and removing dunnage that gets the job done safely and efficiently. As the Carpenter here's the work you'll do:

  • Perform repair of roofs or siding, install doors or windows, new construction, small concrete jobs, drywall, painting, and other general carpentry duties.
  • Construct, install, and remove transportation dunnage for shipment.
  • Repair semi-trailer and rail car flooring to operational specifications.
  • Inspect all loads to ensure items are properly dunnage for safe shipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area to include Dunnage shop, Carpenter shop, ramps, and dock areas.

 

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and individual environment.
  • Work ethically and with integrity to uphold organizational values.
  • Ability to operate hand and power woodworking machinery to fabricate and assemble various constructed items safely.
  • Must be able to follow all policies and procedures to uphold organizational values.

 

And if you have these qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Minimum of two years related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Related apprentice program or completion of Technical School.
  • Must possess a valid REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, which includes the gold or black star in the upper corner OR current passport, indicating it is federally compliant.
  • Government clearance may be required.

 

Candidates may be required to satisfy additional job-related requirements, including those established and controlled by third parties, as part of the selection process.

 

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $34.41- $36.22/HR. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements)
