Position Description

We’re looking for a full-time, staff Sr. Project Controls Analyst to join our Mason & Hanger team. This position is responsible for supporting Mason & Hanger with project controls to include EVM, financial planning, analysis and billing. The Sr. Project Controls Analyst will interface daily with program/project managers, accounting, contracts, procurement, pricing and other personnel.  This individual will play a role in impacting business profitability through period closing, forecasting, internal financial reporting, cash management and process improvement initiatives. This position will also represent the company externally.

As the Sr. Project Controls Analyst, here’s the work you’ll do:

  • Prepare and analyze estimate at complete (EAC) data and the associated reporting, including risk documentation, manpower planning and schedule integration.  Research and resolve problems in the business that could materially impact financial results.
  • Development of complex financial models to support proposal pricing, profitability and other ad hoc analyses, tracking billing milestones and the resulting AR and validation of daily time charges to projects.  Ensure all files are maintained within audit standards.
  • Leadership of a submarket within the A&E business and the associated monthly project reviews.  Act as a first point of contact for operations staff, junior finance personnel and subcontractors.
  • Generate accurate and realistic financial forecasts and explain associated variances to the budget. Maintain the rolling multi-year financial model that supports the monthly project review package and the quarterly forecast.
  • Review contracts and RFPs for accuracy and reporting requirement conflicts.  Establish work breakdown structures in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of finance related items in supporting the strategic initiatives for the business.  Create journal entries for revenue recognition, intra-company invoices, and cost reclassifications.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Solid understanding of program control techniques, including EACs utilizing earned value and cost/schedule integration.  Experience with Federal customers, specifically those within the DoD. Proven experience with finance/accounting principles and concepts including GAAP, CAS, FAR, disclosure statements, standard financial statements and metrics, proposal pricing, revenue and cash flow forecasting, billing and profitability analysis.  Must have experience supporting a wide variety of contractual vehicles, with emphasis on Cost Plus contracts.
  • Ability to be efficient while supporting many competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in SAP finance/accounting modules and reporting.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills to mine large volumes of data from various sources, analyze trends, and produce summarized results.
  • Effective use of oral and written communication skills, reason, and data compilation to influence others.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferred in Accounting or Finance and MBA.
  • 8+ years of directly related experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance required.
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of drug and background screening process.


In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $104,480.00 - $156,720.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
