We're looking for an experienced Supervisor, Transportation.

 

The Supervisor, Transportation oversees on-Depot transportation activities at Hawthorne Army Depot, including dispatching and movement of railroad equipment, vehicles, and Material Handling Equipment. This job supervises transportation employees, supports safe and efficient equipment utilization, and ensures transportation work meets Company, contract, state, federal, and applicable hazardous-materials requirements.

 

Position may require security clearance, consistent with contract requirements and government approval.  U.S. or Naturalized citizenship is required.

This position is located on site in Hawthorne, NV.

 

As the Supervisor, Transportation, here’s the work you’ll do:

  • Partner with the Manager, Supply Depot Operations to plan transportation activities, develop policies, and establish goals and objectives for on-Depot transportation operations. Ensure transportation practices support safe, compliant, and efficient movement of personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Plan, schedule, and direct employees involved in dispatching and movement of railroad equipment, vehicles, and Material Handling Equipment. Monitor utilization of assigned transportation assets and maintain records needed to support reporting, compliance, and operational continuity.
  • Supervise transportation employees, including assigning work, providing direction, monitoring performance, and recommending staffing or status changes as appropriate. Reinforce safety, ethical conduct, and Company policy expectations across assigned transportation operations
  • Review transportation methods and recommend process improvements or more economical modes of operation. Coordinate with Supply Depot Operations and related functions to address transportation issues, reduce downtime, and improve service reliability
  • Monitor and report potential safety, environmental, or operational concerns to appropriate personnel or departments. Support corrective action and ensure transportation activities are performed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Maintain compliance with state, federal, contract, Company, and applicable hazardous-materials transportation requirements. Support documentation, training, and communication needed to keep assigned transportation activities audit-ready and compliant.

 

This role is for you if you have these skills:

 

  • Transportation operations knowledge sufficient to plan, schedule, and oversee on-Depot movement of railroad equipment, vehicles, and Material Handling Equipment.
  • Hazardous-materials transportation awareness sufficient to support safe movement activities and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • People leadership capability sufficient to assign work, supervise employees, monitor performance, and reinforce safety and policy expectations.
  • Policy and procedure development capability sufficient to support Company, state, federal, governmental, and contract compliance requirements.
  • Operational problem-solving capability sufficient to evaluate transportation methods, identify improvements, and support cost-effective movement of equipment and materials
  • Business communication capability sufficient to provide direction, maintain records, coordinate with stakeholders, and escalate issues clearly and professionally

 

 

And if you have these qualifications:

 

  • Associate degree in Transportation Management or equivalent combination of education and related transportation operations experience
  • 4+ years of transportation operations experience, including at least 1 year of supervisory or work direction experience and exposure to hazardous-materials transportation requirements..
  • Must satisfactorily complete the Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition Operations required by AMC Regulation 350-4 within 90 days of hire. Maintaining current certification is a condition of continued employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver's license unless physically unqualified to obtain such a license.
  • Must be able to perform work duties safely and effectively while remaining alert to work, safety, transportation, and environmental hazards.

 

 

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the hourly pay range for this role is $55,040- $82,560. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
