We're looking for an experienced Industrial Hygienist.
The Industrial Hygienist develops, administers, and evaluates industrial hygiene and occupational health programs for Hawthorne Army Depot. This position establishes exposure-control standards, conducts monitoring and sampling, supports DoD and regulatory compliance, and provides technical guidance to protect employees from workplace health hazards.
Position may require security clearance, consistent with contract requirements and government approval. U.S. or Naturalized citizenship is required.
This position is located on site in Hawthorne, NV.
As the Industrial Hygienist, here’s the work you’ll do:
- Administer the Industrial Hygiene program, including lead, asbestos, ergonomic, exposure monitoring, hearing conservation support, and related occupational health programs. Establish site standards, procedures, and controls that align with Company requirements, applicable OSHA/ANSI requirements, and applicable DoD regulations and contract expectations
- Evaluate workplace health hazards by conducting inspections, reviewing records, interviewing employees, and performing qualitative and quantitative monitoring for chemical, physical, biological, noise, vibration, ventilation, ergonomic, and other potential exposures. Interpret results, determine risk significance, and recommend corrective actions or engineering controls
- Establish, train, equip, and maintain a HAZMAT response capability in coordination with Safety, Fire & Emergency Services, Environmental, Operations, and site leadership. Develop or support response procedures, readiness activities, drills, equipment requirements, and post-event reviews for hazardous material incidents within the scope of assigned responsibilities
- Develop and maintain occupational health and industrial hygiene procedures, manuals, exposure-control requirements, PPE standards, sampling protocols, and employee communications. Provide technical guidance to management, supervisors, employees, and the Occupational Health Clinic on hazardous materials, medical surveillance inputs, exposure controls, and safe work practices
- Establish and maintain health-related monitoring programs, including a wastewater sampling protocol that can be activated in coordination with site leadership and medical/public health partners when a potentially contagious disease entity or emerging health risk is identified. Coordinate findings, reporting, and risk-control recommendations while maintaining confidentiality and applicable privacy expectations
- Support site compliance and continuous improvement by performing audits, investigations, report preparation, data analysis, and corrective-action tracking. Coordinate with Fire, Facilities, Environmental, and other functions on fire suppression/extinguisher-related exposure or compliance concerns when assigned, while primary maintenance responsibility remains with the appropriate fire/facilities function

- High School Diploma or GED and an Associate degree in a technical, occupational health, safety, environmental, science, or related field required. Equivalent formal education and directly related experience may be considered
- 2+ years of industrial hygiene, occupational health, safety, environmental monitoring, hazardous material exposure assessment, or related experience required.
- Industrial hygiene, occupational safety, hazardous materials, or related certification recognized by a professional safety or industrial hygiene organization is preferred if required by contract or assignment..
- Valid driver’s license required. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate government security clearance and site access requirements.
- Must perform duties safely, maintain confidentiality of health-related information, and remain alert to potential work and safety hazards while performing safety-sensitive duties.
In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the hourly pay range for this role is $67,200- $100,800. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
