We’re looking for a full-time, staff Structural Engineer IV

to join our Day & Zimmermann team located in either Greenville SC, Charlotte NC, or Remote.

As the Structural Engineer IV, here’s the work you’ll do:

Under administrative direction, a Structural Engineer IV is expected to function in a discipline leadership role  overseeing the development of structural deliverables, engineering design criteria and specifications for foundations, concrete, and steel structures on various sized projects.  Able to prepare or provide oversight in the production of basic to complex levels of structural design and analysis for industrial projects including process equipment foundations, buildings, dynamic and rotating equipment, open structures, pipe racks, and modifications to existing facilities.  In addition to technical leadership, the position could require the individual to provide discipline administrative and supervisory functions on the assigned project, including the development of discipline scope document, engineering budgets, schedule and associated staffing plans and management of assigned staff.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all engineering and design activities of individuals on assigned team and for the quality of design and engineering products for assigned projects..
  • Provides technical guidance for the pertinent portions of the assigned projects.
  • Develops and monitors project scopes and schedule for applicable discipline. Identifies changes in scope and their impact, as they occur.
  • Coordinates work with other disciplines, departments, construction, site based personnel, vendors, subcontractors and the client.
  • Monitors and ensures design work and documents are correct, consistent with applicable codes, logically presented and constructible.
  • When responsible for work, stamps required project documents as a PE or SE.

 

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Experience in effective project execution and project procedures. Deep understanding of codes and standards of ACI, AISC, IBC, PIP and ASCE applicable to EPC Fossil Power projects.  Ability to supervise and lead the completion of projects.
  • Ability to manage structural design within EPC workflows, coordinating with procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Exhibits both technical breadth and depth of subject structural engineering curriculum and is able to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts.
  • Proficient in identifying engineering challenges, analyzing complex issues, and implementing cost-effective, safe, and innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite applications, and the ability to quickly learn and use other software Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite applications, and the ability to quickly learn and use other software packages.  Proficiency in one or more structural analysis software packages (RISA or Staad.pro preferred). Able to work in AutoCAD and Bluebeam.  Familiarity with 3D design and viewing software such as Revit, Navisworks and Tekla Structures.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural. Masters degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • PE Preferred
  • Ability to successfully pass background screening process. 

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $114,880 - $172,320. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
