We’re looking for a full-time, Electrical Group Manager

to join our Mason and Hanger team located in Glen Allen, VA.

As the Quality Engineer, here’s the work you’ll do:

As Group Manager, assist Director in operations of the department. Provides departmental leadership and management for one market sector, major client, office location, or discipline. Direct reports include Group Leaders and other direct staff (approximately 5 Group Leaders and 20-25 total staff). Ensures employees are engaged and delivering success to our clients. Actively involved with market directors and project managers for both project support and business development. Group Managers will have timesheet approval, conduct performance reviews, manage team goals, and have visibility to direct staff compensation information. Oversee efforts of Group Leaders conducting mid-year and year-end PMR evaluations and meetings. Group Managers shall hold these responsibilities in addition to the responsibilities of their Individual Contributor job description

This role is for you if you have these skills:

 

•             Overall accountability to direct leads to create edit and check project documents to include plans and BIM models, specifications, power studies and reports, and support documents (basis of design); check work delegated to other engineers and designers to ensure projects are successfully completed within scope

•             Ensures projects within group are delivered successfully and clients are satisfied. *Majority of this time expected to be billable to the project.

•             Serve as the main point of contact to clients for electrical department project responsibilities (meetings, conference calls, comment review/responses, etc.)

•             Ensure timesheets are completed, review and conduct performance reviews, sets/reviews/manages team goals and provides input into compensation adjustments.

•             Mentor and train other lead engineers and designers in the department

•             Thorough knowledge and understanding of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), ASHRAE 90.1 and other energy codes, and client design criteria (UFCs, OBO Design Standards, GSA), and familiar with the Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM). Knowledge of advanced concepts such as systems reliability and electrical system coordination and protection. Interpersonal savvy and willingness/ability to communicate effectively (oral and writing) with M&H team members as well as clients; able to take direction and guidance from senior leadership within the company, and able to provide direction and guidance to leads within department.

•             Responsible as client facing representative of electrical department. Actively participates in business development to include project pursuit opportunities, developing fee proposals and contract change modifications. Provides critical involvement to ensure client success can be achieved. Success requires projects to be: delivered on time, within budget, high quality, well-coordinated and constructible. Some travel may be required.

Skills you'll bring:

•             The Group Manager gains and maintains perspective beyond the technical silo of project electrical engineering. Develops solutions in anticipation of challenges and leverages perspective to ensure project team is appropriately focused. Works closely with Director to ensure the department is operating efficiently and well-coordinated with other departments and project managers as well as with clients and consultants.

•             Ensures to maintain a Responsible Engineer Of Record accountable for technical sufficiency of all electrical department project deliverables, to include both electrical and telecommunications disciplines. Ability to coordinate and communicate with architecture/engineering disciplines both internally and externally

•             Architectural/Engineering experience preparing construction plans and specifications for building construction projects required.

•             Experience performing lighting calculations including emergency and exit lights required.

•             Experience designing low voltage (600V) building power distribution systems required.

•             Revit/AutoCAD skills required. Easy Power, etap, or SKM skills preferred

•             Experience designing building telecommunications systems preferred.

•             Experience designing building electronic security systems preferred.

Qualifications we're looking for:

 

•             Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; Degree must be ABET accredited, or acceptable to the State Board of Engineers for licensure as a professional engineer

•             12+ years

•             PE license required

•             Preferred certifications: RCDD, LEED AP.

•             Ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance

 

 

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $124,080 - $186,120. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
