We’re looking for a full-time, Graduate Mechanical Engineer
to join our Mason and Hanger team located in either Glen Allen, VA.
Position Summary:
Works under supervision of more senior engineers to complete project tasks such as drawing production, calculations and equipment selections. The position represents developing junior staff in training.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Accountabilities are statements documenting the specific and important results which the position is intended to achieve through time. They connect the major, significant, or principal functions performed to a result, against which some measurement of performance often can be applied.
- Creating and editing drawings (CAD / BIM).
- Perform engineering calculations.
- Performs selections and schedules simple equipment (example: fans, VAVs, GRD).
- Supports construction phase contract administration activities such as Submittals, RFI's, construction support, etc.
- Perform other duties supporting senior engineering staff, as assigned.
- Complying with data protection principles while handling personal, protected and/or Covered Defense Information on behalf of Day & Zimmermann.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Position is gaining understanding of the industry and developing ability to complete tasks successfully with progressively less guidance. Expected to engage in project cost and design coordination.
- Proficiency with drawing production software (CADD, BIM, Revit) and calculation tools.
- Expected to develop competency selecting equipment and skill with system layout/design.
- Understands contract administration project phase and supports CA efforts for assigned projects.
- Must build trusted relationships with the department through ownership of assigned work and delivering quality results. Expected to be a proactive learner and seek support when needed.

- Education: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering
- Length of Experience: 0 - 4 years
- Certifications: LEED AP certification preferred
- Licenses/Registrations: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred or expected to obtain EIT within 12 months.
- Ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance.
In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $63,840 - $95,760. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
