We’re looking for a full-time, Civil Project Engineer to join our Mason and Hanger team
located in either Glen Allen, VA, Lexington, KY, Huntsville, AL, Chantilly, VA, or Virginia Beach, VA
As the Civil Project Engineer, here’s the work you’ll do:
Gaining mastery over the entire project, able to function as the lead engineer on small to medium scale projects and/or completely engineer complex systems on large/campus scale project. Gaining command of the overall department project scope in pursuit of becoming an independent front line Sr. Engineer.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
- Ability to create and edit project documents to include Drawings, Specifications (editing and checking) and support documents (basis of design).
- Experienced checking work delegated to other engineers and designers on project to ensure scope is documented successfully.
- Able to act as main point of contact to clients for Civil department project responsibilities (meetings, conference calls, comment review/responses, etc.).
- Lead construction phase contract administration activities for Civil department on project such as Submittals, RFIs, construction support, etc.
- Mastery of the primary production methods and calculations, properly understands the diverse design process and has strong project experience from inception to substantial completion. Ability to lead and direct others in production of Civil engineering projects.
- Performed engineering calculations, create schedules and cost estimates and edit specifications.
- Worked with other engineers, disciplines and project managers to ensure project scope is satisfied. Responsible as client facing representative of Civil department and begins to participate in business development activities. Actively supports project manager and department leadership with design scope modifications for assigned projects. Actively manages project cost throughout the design. Ability to create and present ideas to clients in form of drawings, renderings, and other exhibits.
- Will regularly function as the Responsible Engineer of Record accountable for the technical sufficiency of some or all Civil department project deliverables. May perform ITR on other’s work within the department. Ability to coordinate and communicate with architects and engineers both internally and externally. Ensures design constructability and coordination with other disciplines necessary for a successful construction project. Ensures all Civil Construction Administration responsibilities for project are handled successfully.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with department through maintaining ownership for assigned work and delivering efficient and high-quality results. Expected to be a proactive learner, identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities. Maintains professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success. Is expected to know their own technical limitations and proactively seek out support where needed while maintaining their lead role for the project. Ability to take direction and guidance from more senior staff within company. Ability to provide direction and guidance to less senior staff within department.
And if you have these qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering
- 6+ years (2 years with PE)
- LEED AP BD+C Credential (preferred) or GPCP Certification, or ability to obtain LEED AP BD+C Credential.
- Professional License in Civil Engineering.
- EXCEL, WORD, PowerPoint, CAD/BIM: Autodesk Civil 3D or MicroStation.
- Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
- Great attitude and team player.
- Successful completion of background screening process.
- Some travel required.
In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $87,440 - $131,160. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
