Role Overview & Business Impact:

The Document Control Manager - Projects at Day & Zimmermann (DZMC) plays a pivotal role in overseeing and guiding the management of all proposal and project documents across EPC projects within various D&Z market sectors. This leadership position demands a comprehensive approach to organizing documentation throughout its lifecycle, which includes managing submittals, RFIs, correspondence, DCRs, RFAs, and drawings effectively and efficiently.

As the Document Control Manager - Projects, here is the work you'll do:

  • Serves as the functional leader responsible for developing strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders to enable successful development and delivery of EPC projects across all market sectors. 
  • Responsible for successful execution of document management activities on all EPC projects, ensuring delivery of the project will meet or exceed financial, operational, quality, safety goals and customer retention for each market served. Near term responsibilities also include serving in the role for developing all document management content required to support procurement and subcontracting during project development (RFP phase) and project delivery (execution phase). This responsibility will be in effect, until such time the market sector project growth enables growth of the document management department. 
  • Champion the organization's commitment to safety and demonstrate a strong personal commitment to safety and D&Z values by providing leadership and establishing expectations and accountability related to the execution of an effective Customer and D&Z safety program across the entire market sector. 
  • Conduct tactical review of the market sector business plans, including full comprehension of market sector strategic initiatives and annual growth plans that are required to develop document control resource staffing plans to ensure resources are available, prioritized, and deployed to support the work. 
  • Ensure effective technical and document control governance, procedures, and tools are established and maintained to support successful project delivery and operations. Ensuring all document control resources are trained and operating within the tool set. 
  • Effectively partner with functional areas to achieve shared goals, resolve conflicts, and establish/promote best practices and process improvement. 

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Industry Expertise: Robust experience in projects and construction document management within the Power Industry is essential, with a preference for those with contractor experience. Demonstrated capability managing document control at enterprise or multi-site levels.
  • Results-Oriented Leadership: Proven action-oriented approach that exceeds goals through clear task assignment, accountability enforcement, strategic thinking, and an ability to maintain a broad perspective while managing intricate project details.
  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of business operations, including cost drivers and revenue mechanisms, with the ability to interpret financial metrics for performance analysis and corrective action. Knowledge of market dynamics and how strategies affect brand perception and growth.
  • Relationship Building: Capability to cultivate and sustain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, internally and externally, to influence customer decisions and drive market share growth.
  • Communication Proficiency: Strong verbal and written communication skills essential for timely, clear information delivery and the ability to influence action across diverse audiences.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is strongly preferred, especially in business, engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project document management or a closely related function within a similar industry.
  • Proven track record of managing complex documentation processes in support of large-scale engineering or construction projects.
  • Proficient in document control software and enterprise project management tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing cross-functional teams and ensuring effective resource allocation.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $104,480 - $156,720. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
