Position Description

We’re looking for a full-time, staff Director of Estimating to join our Day & Zimmermann team. This position is eligible to work remote.

 

Director of Estimating is responsible for developing and executing all estimating efforts for Maintenance and Construction markets. Be a leader of change for the company's vision and strategies as we develop into new markets and the PMO organization, including Estimators on sites. Reporting to the VP of Project Controls, this position will lead and manage the team responsible for developing all estimates across the organization, collaborating closely with internal business leaders and external customers. The Director is a team member who helps develop "Win Strategies" and ensures that our estimates are responsive, complete, and accurate, positioning MC to win in our very competitive market.

As the Director of Estimating, here’s the work you’ll do:

  • Provide oversight and guidance to teams of Estimators working on MC maintenance and project related RFP’s for all business unit markets, including Fossil/Nuclear/Solar power, Industrial and DOE markets
  • Develop and maintain Estimating processes and procedures, as required. Utilize KPI's for As-Sold/As Executed for constant improvements
  • Manage estimating department and processes along with enhancing procedures and unit rate databases
  • Maintain estimating software labor and material standards and ensure consistent usage by Estimators, establish tools to help drive project life cycle - Estimate > Project Execution > Closeout
  • Build strong customer relationship with internal and external customers.  Interface with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction to provide proposal updates and ensure Estimating deliverables are satisfied for all client proposal activities
  • Attend RFP level reviews and proactively drive a winning RFP strategy

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Substantial previous experience managing the development of maintenance and project focused RFP’s for Fossil/Nuclear Power and Process/Industrial clients, as well as Project execution plans
  • Ability to oversee, support, coach, and provide technical guidance to a team of direct reports across multiple locations, including Estimators and Schedulers
  • Experience leading resource assignments for high-volumes of proposals; must be able to collaborate with Project Controls personnel and Operations leadership to identify resources, drive processes, ensure compliance, attend proposal reviews, and ensure all Estimating deliverables are being consistently satisfied
  • Expert knowledge of Estimating function with a well-versed background in planning, organizing, budgeting, and monitoring progress
  • Knowledge in the application and utilization of various Estimating and Scheduling software programs, including Win Estimator, P6, and the latest version of Microsoft Office Suite

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred
  • 15+ years’ experience in related estimating assignments - Power and Process/Industrial industries required, with strong focus on proposal development
  • 5-10 years’ experience estimating large scale EPC (Engineering Procurement & Construction) projects Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification a plus
  • Proficiency with Win Estimator, Microsoft Word Office Suite and a strong working knowledge of Primavera P6
  • Great attitude and team player
  • Successful completion of background screening process. (If applicable)

 

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $148,960 - $223,440. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
