Lead Critical Munitions Operations with Impact and Innovation at Hawthorne Army Depot — Shape the Future of Ammunition Management!
The Director of Demilitarization Operations will be responsible for all munitions process operations to include ammunition maintenance, renovation and demilitarization function at the Hawthorne Army Depot. More detailed responsibilities include renovation, modification, conversion, minor maintenance, and load, assemble and Pack (LAP) of conventional ammunition items, open burning/above ground detonation of conventional ammunition items and special projects to include UXO operations. Ensure compliance with Company and governmental guidelines and regulations pertaining to the responsibilities of this position. Works with other directors and managers across the organization to ensure on-time and on-cost delivery of customer funded orders.
As Director, Demilitarization Operations, here's the work you will do:
- Plan and develop policies for the contract while establishing organizational goals.
- Enforce company policies and safety standards rigorously.
- Ensure demilitarization operations comply fully with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, hazardous waste handling laws, demil regulations, contracts, cost proposals, and standard operating procedures.
- Execute all orders and directives received from the General Manager.
- Oversee safety, environmental, and security requirements across all process operations.
- Manage resources assigned or allocated to the process side of the directorate to successfully fulfill the process mission, functions, and contractual obligations.
- Provide oversight, mentoring, and leadership in alignment with the Defense Industry Initiative (Ethics) and Diversity programs.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
- Strong knowledge of demilitarization operations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including hazardous waste handling laws and rules.
- Ability to quickly identify process failures and implement timely corrective actions.
- Understanding and management of the APO budget, including overhead and demilitarization projects.
- Knowledge of safety, security, and environmental requirements related to processing operations such as renovation, maintenance, and demilitarization.
- Familiarity with demilitarization and special projects standard operating procedures.
And these qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required; B.S./B.A. in Management, Engineering, or equivalent education and experience preferred.
- Experience managing demil personnel and budgets required.
- Six years’ experience in ammunition maintenance, explosives operations, and hazardous waste disposal; two years of management experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all certifications per SOC’s Master Training Plan.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada driver’s license.
- Must obtain and maintain required government security clearances, including with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
- Must work safely with constant alertness, perform safety-sensitive duties, and maintain a Secret Clearance
In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $118,000 - $177,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
