Job Summary
We’re looking for a dynamic Director of Business Development, DZMG to join our Day & Zimmermann team!
In this high-impact role, you’ll be at the forefront of identifying new business opportunities across both U.S. government and commercial munitions markets. You’ll play a key role in shaping strategy—leading proposal efforts, driving capture initiatives, and turning opportunities into wins. You’ll also bring fresh insights to the table through market analysis, uncovering customer buying habits and industry trends. Your work will help shape brand strategies, sharpen our selling tools, and ensure we stay ahead of the competition—all while keeping customer needs at the center and fueling strong revenue growth. As the Director of Business Development, here’s the work you’ll do:
• Direct the planning and execution of new business and program growth activities, including opportunity evaluation, capture management, competitive analysis, Department of Defense budget review, program growth campaigns, customer relationship building, and development of teaming and subcontracting strategies
• Examine and interpret RFPs, RFQs, Statements of Work (SOW), and related documents, focusing on key requirements to uncover opportunities. Ensure proposal materials accurately reflect clients' intentions in all DZMG submissions
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of personnel within military, government, and commercial agencies responsible for ammunition development and procurement. Cultivate and sustain strategic, positive business relationships with these contacts, consistently positioning DZMG as a trusted partner
• Guide team members and support the preparation and submission of contract proposals
This role is for you if you have these skills:
• Customer-focused, quality-driven team player skilled at multitasking, thriving in fast-paced environments, and clearly communicating complex technical information across all organizational levels
• In-depth knowledge of company policies and government regulations
• Strong negotiation abilities
• Proven expertise and well-established relationships within the Department of Defense, with a specialization in munitions and defense services
And if you have these qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent required, master’s degree preferred
• 10+ years of professional experience required
• 2+ experience in business development with a demonstrated win record greater than 60% required
• Munitions experience required
• Military or another US Government Agency experience
In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $127,680 - $191,520. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
