As a strategic leader, you'll partner with project management, engineering, legal, procurement, operations, and executive leadership to develop innovative subcontracting strategies that support project success. You'll oversee high-value subcontract negotiations, strengthen supplier and subcontractor partnerships, and continuously improve subcontract administration processes to enhance performance, cost efficiency, and compliance.

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact by leading a high-performing team, influencing enterprise-wide subcontracting practices, and helping deliver mission-critical projects safely, efficiently, and successfully. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoy solving complex contractual and commercial challenges, you'll find a rewarding career with Day & Zimmermann.

As the Sr. Subcontracts Manager, here is the work you'll do:

  • Serve as the principal lead for subcontract and supply chain activities supporting complex EPC proposals, including crafting supply chain estimates, defining procurement strategies, conducting supplier vetting, leading solicitation and negotiation efforts, and ensuring comprehensive supplier quality and risk management throughout the proposal lifecycle.
  • Manage the complete subcontract lifecycle for assigned projects, encompassing requisition and bid list development, subcontract creation and administration, redline review, commercial negotiations, and partnership with Project Delivery teams to guide subcontractor performance, change management, and compliance governance.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Delivery, Commercial Management, Legal, and supplier partners to interpret contract terms, flow-down requirements, and mitigate commercial risks. Provide expert guidance for dispute resolution and prequalification challenges to safeguard project schedules and financial objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the subcontract administration team by setting clear expectations, conducting performance reviews, promoting accountability, and nurturing professional growth to ensure a high-functioning, compliance-focused group.
  • Act as a key interface among internal stakeholders and external suppliers, facilitating transparent communication, escalating issues effectively, and ensuring decision alignment to mitigate risks and maintain project momentum within a complex organizational structure.
  • Drive continuous process enhancements informed by data analysis, industry best practices, and stakeholder feedback to elevate subcontract administration quality, supplier relationships, and overall supply chain resilience.
  • Champion a culture of compliance, quality, and safety throughout subcontract execution, advocating for ethical business practices and alignment with corporate values and regulatory requirements.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership in enterprise-level subcontract management, capable of navigating complex EPC project environments with proficiency in compliance, administration, sourcing strategies, and negotiation excellence.
  • Strong expertise in evaluating EPC proposals, commercial risk, and subcontract flow-down provisions to ensure contract compliance, realistic pricing, schedule feasibility, and competitive sourcing strategies are achieved.
  • Advanced skills in strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management, including supplier selection, negotiating contracts, performance oversight, and cost management aligned with project and organizational goals.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with diverse stakeholders such as Project Delivery, Legal, Commercial Management, and suppliers, fostering collaborative decision-making within matrixed organizational frameworks.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills supported by data-driven approaches to identify issues, recommend corrective measures, and enhance subcontract processes, supplier performance, and project outcomes.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of coaching, mentoring, and developing teams, building accountability, and promoting a culture of high-quality subcontract administration and compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, enabling clear articulation of complex contractual and commercial concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities and complex projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with supply chain management systems, contract management software, and Microsoft Office tools.
