We’re looking for a full-time, staff Principal Structural Engineer, to join the DZMC team!

As the Principal Structural Engineer, here’s the work you’ll do:

The Structural Engineer, Principal will lead a team of engineers and designers in executing engineering designs across multiple projects and clients with minimal oversight, ensuring alignment with project-specific design concepts and parameters. This role requires strong technical leadership, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions with minimal supervision. This role requires subject matter expert knowledge base for complex levels of structural engineer design, analysis, proposals and project execution. Additionally, the Structural Engineer, Principal will provide front-line supervision of the assigned team and may step in for the Civil/Structural Department Manager as needed, supporting departmental operations and strategic initiatives.

 

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of structural analysis, design principles, material behavior, and industry codes (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE, IBC, PIP) applicable to EPC projects.
  • Ability to manage structural design within EPC workflows, coordinating with procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Strong ability to lead and mentor engineers and designers, providing technical guidance while overseeing project deliverables and team performance.
  • Proficient in identifying engineering challenges, analyzing complex issues, and implementing cost-effective, safe, and innovative solutions.
  • Expertise in structural design and analysis software such as STAAD.Pro or RISA 3D, along with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and other relevant EPC industry software.

And these abilities/job duties:

  • Oversee the execution of structural engineering designs across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with project-specific design concepts, industry codes, and client requirements while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Provide front-line supervision of engineers and designers, offering technical guidance, mentoring, and performance oversight to drive team effectiveness and professional development.
  • Responsible for Structural engineering proposals including scopes of work, execution planning, work hours estimates, staffing and scheduling across all market sectors.
  • Provides subject matter expert technical guidance for the pertinent portions of division's projects.
  • Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company best practices.
  • Step in for the Civil/Structural Department Manager as needed, assisting in strategic planning, resource management, and operational decision-making to support departmental and organizational goals.

And these qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited institution. A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 12+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 years in the power industry, including power generation or industrial facilities. Proven ability to lead structural design for EPC projects for power facilities or related infrastructure.
  • NCEES accreditation preferred
  • PE required

 

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $136,400 - $204,600. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
